Below, we present a list the most interesting places and attractions in the region:


1. Bydgoszcz (120 km from Rypin) is the seat of the governor and the largest city in the region. There are ancient granaries, the medieval cathedral, art nouveau houses, numerous parks and green areas. The city is situated on the Brda River where picturesque bridges lead to Mill River an the area of so-called Venice of Bygdoszcz. A modern opera house nearby is another advantage of the vibrant city.

2. Torun (70 km from Rypin) is the seat of the regional government, a prestigious academic centre and a unique heritage of Gothic architecture. Toruń’s Old Town, with its Town Hall, town houses and a remaining parts of the castle walls were put on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Torun is also the birthplace of the eminent astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, and it is also famous for making delicious gingerbreads baked according to traditional recipes from 500 years ago.

3. Golub-Dobrzyn (25 km from Rypin) is an example of one of the smaller towns which preserved their unique medieval atmosphere and character due to their castles and churches erected on the picturesque hills or along the rivers. The town is famous for its monumental teutonic knights castle where every year spectacular knights tournaments are held. Likewise, Chelmno (90 km from Rypin) with its spectacular location on nine surrouning hills, is believed to be one of the most beautiful Polish cities and is therefore called the "The Cracow of the North”. The town is hailed as the capital of those in love because of the relics of St. Valentine, which are kept in the town’s cathedral.

4. Bory Tucholskie (Tuchola Forest, 130 km from Rypin) is the second largest forest complex in Poland with the natural landscape parks, unique plant and animal and fish species and unique beauty of the area. Numerous lakes are ideally suited for water sports and river Brda creates a scenic canoe rallies.

5. Plock (70 km from Rypin) is one of the most important cities in Mazovia with rich history, interesting architecture, beautiful skyline and major monuments. In the Plock Cathedral two Polish rulers are buried, there are museums, a theatre and an amphitheatre integrated into the embankment. You can also visit a zoo situated picturesquely on a high bank of the Vistula River. The town is also an important industrial centre.

6. Ciechocinek (85 km from Rypin) and Inowrocław (110 km from Rypin) are two renowned spas with the largest in Europe saline graduation towers that create helpful microclimate. They are the source of brine and the iodine and ozone in the air cure many illnesses.

7. Biskupin (165 km from Rypin) on the other hand, is a unique example of wooden architecture, where the prehistoric foundations of a 2700-years-old settlement were discovered with a defensive wall, a gate and cottages reconstructed later. You can take part in numerous archeological festivities and the uniqueness of this place makes it the site of many Polish historical films.

8. Ethnographic Park in Toruń and Museum of the Mazovian Countryside in Sierpc (30 km from Rypin) are two museums where you can aquaint with architectural buildings and artefacts showing the culture and life of the past. In Torun there is a collection of the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth-century rural buildings from the area of Kuyavia, Dobrinland and Tuchola Forest. In contrast, in Sierpc there is a collection of cultural goods and buildings of Mazovia from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.

9. Walking through educational paths in dinosaur theme parks in Solec Kujawski (110 km from Rypin) and Rogow (180 km from Rypin), you can meet face to face realistically recreated dinosaur specimens in fine detail reflecting the anatomy of the body and other characteristics of these reptiles. Besides, in the the two parks there are hundreds of exhibits and excavations from exotic corners of the world available for observation.

10. Szafarnia (20 km from Rypin) is a small village with a manor house, where the famous composer Frederic Chopin spent time in his youth as a guest. To commemorate his stay, the estate was transformed into a cultural institution with a museum and a beautiful historic park. Currently, numerous concerts, Chopin competitions and other events and performances frequently take place in the centre.
